Hello Heat…Hello Summer!
We almost wonder how the first half of the year flew by, and only to find ourselves already planning our summer vacations.
With a couple of interesting trips coming up, be it from yoga retreats, to beach destination getaways, it’s always a good idea to think of ways to stay healthy, and active while traveling, and at the same time enjoy every moment without worrying about what to eat and how to fit in that exercise routine!
Here, we share with you some of our tips on how we stay healthy over the summer holidays, and we hope you can apply some of them as well while you are on vacation:
1. Create a Routine
As we let go and enjoy just being while on vacation, we still create a little routine for ourselves, be it from waking up early, to doing our morning meditation and ensure we have breakfast before our day starts
2. Take Up a Cooking Class
Since we are foodies at heart, we love exploring new cuisines, and a great way to do that is to take up a cooking class where ever you may be for holidays! It’s a great way to meet new people and learn to cook something different as well
3. Sleep Lots
This is KEY! As we tend to have a few sleepless nights, we do take advantage of not setting the alarm while on vacation and just enjoying the natural rhythm of our sleep. We keep a routine for sleep though, getting to bed at a fairly decent time too!
4. Hydrate More
Wherever we are, we carry a bottle of water with us, and fill it up as we get on with our day! We love coconut water, so as we enjoy beach destinations, you’ll find us sipping on all-natural coconut water that’s freshly cut in front of us; just delicious and nutritious too!
5. Go on a Walking Tours
What better way to explore a city, than on foot! Either go on a group walking tour, that also allows you to connect with other human beings or be it on your own; and explore the city and its offerings in a unique way! Enjoy the scenery and stop for local food on the way too!
6. Pamper Yourself with a Salt Bath
As our days are normally packed with adventures while on vacation, enjoying a salt bath is a great way for us to relax and take time out for ourselves
7. Disconnect to Reconnect
Going on a digital detox is almost a must for us! Though we might post here and there, it’s great for us to be disconnected from social media and other platforms for a while. It allows us to be more present in the moment, and create beautiful memories without being stuck to our phones.
8. Read a Book
Another great way to disconnect, is to read! Though we read quite a bit throughout the year, this is always a great idea to bring a book or two that has been on your wish list and take with you to the beach, on the train ride or just in bed at night as you unwind
9. Enjoy Local Cuisine
Nothing more beautiful than to experience new cultures, and even new cuisines! We enjoy a lot of street food and we generally have a list of all the places we want to try out! Food is central to a lot of what we do while on vacation; naturally!
10. Experience New Activities
Be it hiking, snorkeling, mountain biking, yoga, cooking, you name it…whatever it is that is new and exciting, do experience it!
